Marcin Ślarzyński
Marcin Ślarzyński is an assistant professor at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He studies political and social change in Europe, with the special focus on Poland, through the prism of nationalism, memory, and local community studies. Currently he is a co-PI in the project Conservative mobilizations: Intellectuals, Social Movements, and the State which is co-financed by the Polish Academy of Sciences and the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS).

Danuta Życzyńska-Ciołek
Danuta Życzyńska-Ciołek, PhD, is an assistant professor at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. She is a sociologist with additional educational background in psychology and anthropology. She joined the CASIN team in 2012, initially serving as a Technical and Managerial Specialist. She has participated in numerous CASIN initiatives, most notably the Polish Panel Survey, POLPAN. Since 2022, she has been the Principal Investigator of a grant titled ‘Paltry pensions’ in the Context of the Sense of Social Justice and the Goals of Pension Policy. A Multidimensional Sociological Analysis, funded by the National Science Centre, Poland. She is also a member of the Qualitative Data Archive team at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, PAS.

Ilona Wysmułek
Ilona Wysmułek is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IFIS PAN). Her research and work focus on the issues of corruption, meritocracy and social inequality, as well as methodological issues of quality in public opinion surveys and data harmonization. Since 2013, she has been actively involved in the Polish Panel Survey POLPAN project of CASIN research group. In the past, she took part in a number of CASIN projects, including the Survey Data Harmonization project.
She is currently a Principal Investigator in the collaborative project on How to research corruption?, which offers critical reflections concepts, data and methods in empirical research of corruption and anti-corruption. Since 2018, she has been teaching classes for PhD students of sociology, political science and psychology at the School of Social Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences (GSSR) in the field of research methodology and academic writing in the social sciences, titled: Empirical Research in the Social Sciences: Design, Implementation and Write-up (conducted together with prof. Irina Tomescu-Dubrow and prof. Joshua K. Dubrow). Since 2023, she has been a member of the advisory board of the GSSR Doctoral School.

Irina Tomescu-Dubrow
Irina Tomescu-Dubrow is a professor of sociology at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN). She conducts survey-based research on social stratification and social change, and relatedly, on survey data harmonization. Irina is the PI of the project “Structures and Futures: The Polish Panel Survey, POLPAN 1988-2023” (2022-2025, polpan.org/en/) funded by Poland’s National Science Centre, and was co-PI of the NSF-funded SDR project on ex-post harmonization of cross-national survey data (asc.ohio-state.edu/dataharmonization). Since 2021, Irina is the director of the Graduate School for Social Research (gssr.edu.pl) of the PAN Institutes of Philosophy and Sociology, Psychology, and Political Studies, while also co-directing the Cross-national Studies: Interdisciplinary Research and Training (CONSIRT, consirt.osu.edu) program of The Ohio State University and PAN.

Joshua Dubrow is a PhD from The Ohio State University and a Professor of Sociology at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, Polish Academy of Sciences. His recent research on political sociology and inequality has appeared in Party Politics, Social Science Quarterly, International Review of Sociology, International Journal of Social Research Methodology, American Behavioral Scientist, Current Sociology, and World Development, among others. He teaches academic writing to MA students at the University of Warsaw and to PhDs at the Graduate School for Social Research.

Kazimierz M. Słomczyński. Currently professor and head of the Research Team on Comparative Social Inequality (CASIN), Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, Polish Academy of Sciences (position held since 1992), academy professor in sociology, Ohio State University (position held since 2011), and director of the Cross-National Studies: Interdisciplinary Research and Training Program (CONSIRT), Polish Academy of Sciences and Ohio State University (position held since 2008). In the past, a professor in sociology at Ohio State University (1993-2011) and recipient of significant grants from institutions in Poland (Ministry of Science and Higher Education, National Science Centre) and abroad (U.S. National Science Foundation, Research Council of Norway). Co-founder of the Polish Panel Survey, POLPAN, a study initiated in 1987/1988 and continued every five years. Co-author (with M. Kohn) of the Social Structure and Direction (Blackwell 1990, IFiS Publishers 2007) and co-editor of several books, most recently Poland: Thirty Years of Radical Social Change (Brill 2024) and Survey Data Harmonization (Wiley 2024). Published in the American Sociological Review, American Journal of Sociology, Social Forces, and other major journals in the social sciences. Awarded for the Best Paper in the Survey Research Methods in 2017-2018 by the European Survey Research Association. Member of the Academia Europaea.

Krystyna Janicka
Krystyna Janicka is a professor of sociology at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, Polish Academy of Sciences, and the University of Zielona Gora (2005-2015). Her research focuses on social mobility and social structure – its transformations and psychological correlates, as well as the role of gender in the process of social stratification and sociological aspects of the work situation. Prof. Janicka co-authored a series of survey studies on these issues, including on the social differentiation of Lodz (1965-1998), panel studies on the changes in the structure of Polish society between 1988-2018, and the psychological functioning of individuals under conditions of social change. She authored and co-authored several book publications – including Intergenerational mobility and its correlates, Work situation and social structure, Mental Adjustment to the Post-Communist System in Poland, Lubuszanie in the first half of the 21st century – chapters in edited works and articles in domestic and foreign sociological journals. Prof. Janicka was the Secretary of the General Board of the PTS between 2002 and 2009.
